Attitude in Gratitude is so very important in growing in a favourable fashion. Each day we do this, we feel better and better. It grows exponentially. The more we are grateful for, the more we acquire to be grateful for. All we need to keep those things we have acquired is to respect and maintain them, for once we no longer do that, we are no longer showing gratitute, and they will go away through one medium or another.
How do we do that? Well, in the beginning, each day we can begin by expressing specifically, five things for which we are grateful. Each day we can expand upon those things to ensure that additional things are added to the list or expanding on the current list.
For example: Day 1: 1-I am grateful for the relationship of my spouse/partner. 2-I am grateful for the family I have. 3- I am grateful for the career I have chosen. 4- I am grateful for the opportunity to do volunteer work to give back. 5- I am grateful for this place in which I live.
Day 2: 1-I am grateful for the efforts my spouse/partner to help maintain our relationship. 2-I am grateful for the love I receive from my family. 3- I am grateful to have a paycheque for the contributions to my employer. 4- I am so happy to help with the food bank. 5- I love the way this house makes me feel like home.
Eventually, you will be able to just take a few moments and visualize each of your categories as you appreciate all that they provide for you. You will also be able to say to yourself when things are challenging, such as the furnace broke down, or the washing machine needs repairs, they are machines and they wear out and boy, am I glad to be able to repair or replace them for the comfort or convenience they provide me/us.
As you do this, instead of the “blankety” furnace broke down and now it’s going to cost me $xxx to fix, you change your whole outlook on life. That reflects upon all you do!
Until next time….
