You can’t get there from here? What on earth do you mean? Where is ‘here‘? Where is ‘there’?
You have to get ‘there’ from over … ‘there’…..
As Einstein said, you cannot resolve a problem with the same mind that created it. In other words, you cannot get ‘there’ from ‘here’ thinking. You have to change the thinking. This is the sticker for most of us. How do you think differently? Often times the catch is that we think based on the beliefs deeply embedded in our subconscious mind rather than from our creative minds.
Now the silly part. Get silly. Find humour in the problem and be like a kid and start having fun. Every time you entertain a thought that says you can’t do that, ask “Why not”! In the process, write down all the silly ideas you have and just keep writing.
The process initially pulls the engrained subconscious mind thinking and then eventually as you keep the problem in the background, and silly in the foreground, the creative senses begin to evolve. I like to do this with my legs crossed at the ankles. I heard that by crossing limbs, we begin whole-brain activity and now our conscious engages the subconscious mind and new thinking begins.
Answers often don’t come in sentences. They often come in blurbs of crazy words, pictures, elements totally out of the blue. Pay attention to these, write them down. They become keywords to the solution. Have fun with it, doodle, act like a kid again. When you are off your guard to the inconvenience of the problem, you are creating a solution. Keep your eyes off the clock, somehow it forces limitations on open-mindedness.
If you have a humourus partner or friend, play a game with it. Know that even if the answer doesn’t come today, you are accessing the Universal mind for which there is always an answer that will solve your problem.
Pay attention especially to the thoughts that come to you when you first wake up in the morning, or when you are in the shower, or walking taking in nature. The answers are usually in ‘flash’ moments. Don’t ignore them.
Until next time….
